Jacob Millman

Biography

Jacob Millman was known for his contributions to the development of radar technology. He was born in Russia, and immigrated to the United States as a child in 1913. Dr. Millman received his doctoral degree from MIT in 1935. He began his career as an engineering professor at the City College of New York and remained there for nearly twenty years, with the exception of three years spent as a scientist at MIT's Radiation Laboratory during World War II. After leaving City College, Dr. Millman joined the faculty of Columbia University, where he remained until his retirement in 1976. Dr. Millman authored and co-authored eight electronics and computer science textbooks. He received the 1970 IEEE James H. Mulligan, Jr. Education Medal. Dr. Millman died May 1991.
