Michael Mulder

Biography

Michael Mulder was elected as an at-large member of the IEEE-USA Board of Directors. Dr. Mulder, founding dean of the College of Information Scicnce and Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, was a native of Gresham, OR.

He received a B.S. in electrical engineering and an M.S. in electrical/computer engineering, both from Oregon State University. He also received an M.S. in nuclear engineering, computer science and engineering from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering/computer science and engineering from Montana State University.

He had been a professor of computer science and engineering and director of the Center for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and had worked at the National Science Foundation as a program manager and assi stant to the division director. He also was a consultant to the Boeing Corporation.

He was hired at UNO in July 1996. At UNO he helped to take the college and the Peter Kiewit Institute for Information SCience, Technology and Engineering from the early planning stages to a soon-to-be-opened institute on the Aksarben campus.

Mulder died on January 2nd 1999.
