Biography

Gaylord K. Huth was born in Omaha, NE. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and later earned his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He worked from 1963-65 for the Hughes Aircraft Company, Culver City, Calif., and from 1965-71 was with Magnavox Research Laboratories, Torrance, Calif., where he worked on wide-band digital modulation and coding systems.

He was the founder and president of Axiomatix Corporation from 1971-90. The firm did research and development of wide-band digital modulation and coding systems. In the late 1970s Mr. Huth, with colleagues, contributed two articles to the IEEE Transactions on Communications on 'space shuttle communications and tracking, based on his 19-year involvement with technical design and analysis of military and NASA's space shuttle and space station communications system.

In 1990 he joined Rand Corporation in Santa Monica as a member of the engineering and applied sciences department. At Rand Corp. he also served as the corporation's resident scholar for technology.

Huth died on March 12th, 1997.
